Our Somerset West centre serves the Helderberg, the Cape Winelands and greater Cape Town. It is in Halo Medical Centre in Paardevlei, across the road from Paardevlei Hospital, on the N2 between Cape Town and the Winelands, and patients come to us from Stellenbosch, Strand, Gordon’s Bay, Paarl, the Overberg and the city.
Your consultation, duplex ultrasound scan and any treatment all happen here, with Dr Johan Blignaut, nursing sister and sclerotherapist Sr Jeanine Peters, and Melissa Albertse at reception.
Finding us at Halo Medical Centre
Halo Medical Centre is at 31 Gardner Williams Avenue, Paardevlei, across the road from Paardevlei Hospital. Parking is free at the rear of the building. We are in Suite 106 on the first floor, and there is a lift as well as stairs.
Procedure days in Somerset West
The centre is open Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00. Procedures are done on Tuesdays, in our two office operating rooms, under local anaesthetic. So if you need treatment, your procedure date will normally be a Tuesday, and you walk out afterwards.
The procedures we do here are radiofrequency ablation, medical adhesive (glue) closure and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy. Cosmetic sclerotherapy for spider veins is done by Sr Jeanine Peters. We also manage venous leg ulcers: ulcer patients are usually seen in the same week.

A first visit takes about 30 minutes: Dr Blignaut examines your legs, scans both legs with duplex ultrasound and explains which treatment suits you. Bring your medical scheme details and any previous scan reports or operation notes. Not sure you need to be seen? Start with the free online vein screening and choose Somerset West as your centre. More about your first visit.
