Vein Centres of South Africa

The study of veins, also known as phlebology, and the treatment of vein disease have evolved rapidly over the past two decades. As surgeons we now have a completely new understanding of veins. This has led to a much improved outcome in the treatment of vein patients. As such, vein care has become a specialist field that requires a great amount of dedication and study. A one-size-fits-all approach is now redundant.

At our vein centres we treat leg veins. The practice is dedicated to the assessment and treatment of venous disease. We offer comprehensive assessments and treatment, tailored to the individual needs of every patient.

More than 11,000 endovenous radiofrequency ablation procedures have been performed at our vein centres since 2013, based on our practice procedural records (as at August 2026).

Dr Blignaut's practice is focused on the assessment and treatment of venous disease. The centres also regularly assess patients with recurrent varicose veins or symptoms following previous vein treatment.

Our vein centres in Johannesburg, Durban and Somerset West offer treatment for varicose veins and spider veins by endovenous ablation, ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy, micro-sclerotherapy and venous ulcer care.
